【摘要】 大量慈善组织于19世纪末20世纪初在上海出现。严重的社会问题与普遍的社会贫困固然是导致这一现象产生的原因之一,但创办慈善组织的慈善家群体的目标诉求当是其一个更为重要的促成因素。慈善家群体的职业构成、慈善组织的资产体系及其运作等几个方面因素,使得近代上海慈善组织创办者在提供慈惠的背后,有着深刻的利益性目标诉求,而这正是近代上海慈善组织大量兴起的重要动因所在。
